About the Artist

I freelance as a Multi-Media Consultant and Photographer in Los Angeles.

dogzenArt came about as an experiment to apply the aesthetics of zen to the creative design process. The sensibility in my designs are clean, direct, sleek, open and modern.

I honed my skills learning code in the nineties when the internet was still relatively in its infancy.

Everything I write is lovingly hand coded HTML and CSS with a little Javscript sprinkled in. No Dreamweaver or Flash although I'm not opposed to it. Sort of old school design here.

My graphic design skills come naturally from years of drawing and photography starting when I was a kid illustrating cartoons and comics for my own entertainment.

dogzenArt is my way of celebrating life, making art, and finding balance.

About dogzenArt

The idea for the name of the website arose from my interest in Zen and the whimsical observations of the buddha-like qualities of my adopted dog, frequent sidekick and portrait study, Mulder.

As reflected in my dog's daily routines, his life is direct and uncomplicated. He lives in the present and possess a childlike innocence in exploring the world.

If you can't eat it, pee on it: that's his motto. And that my friend, is the very essence of dogzen, figuratively that is.

Here, creativity and energy is harmonized and then materialized. That is how the work in dogzenArt has been channeled and created.

Hourly Rates:

• Initial consultation (limited to a half hour only) - FREE!
• Digital image re-touching and restoration - $50.00
• Graphic design and layout - $50.00
• Illustration - $50.00
• Mac hardware troubleshooting and networking - $75.00
• Photo-instruction and tutoring - $50.00
• On location photography - $250.00

Packaged Services:

• Website design - ala carte pricing - $499.00 (base cost)
• On-location photography (day rate: 7 hours) - $1499.00
• Personal tutoring (5 lessons) - $225.00
• Keynote/PowerPoint slideshow (15 pages) - $450.00

• All photography assignments are subject to a 30% deposit to reserve a spot on my calendar, 30% on the completion of the shoot and the remainder to be paid in full upon delivery of the completed project.


• All hourly rate fees to be paid in full on completion of each session. Deposits will not be returned in the event of a cancellation after 5 days.

Behind the Scenes

The original website has gone through a major overhaul to improve navigation by clearly defining the different areas of commercial work.

The pages are designed to be uncluttered and easy to navigate. I use pop-up elements because this allows me to keep the overall design fixed with minimal scrolling required.

The icons are by design mysterious and whimsical. Because they are icons, the visitor is intuitively compelled to move the cursor over them to find out what they mean.

This logic is designed to reinforce the same action on different pages with different icons.

I hope that by exploring dogzenArt you will come to understand and appreciate my personal aesthetic and the underlying philosophy that governs the way I design.
